Cristian Wood-Suvak joined the Tufts men's soccer coaching staff in the summer of 2023 as he transitions from standout player to the sidelines.
Wood-Suvak was a fine player for local rival UMass Boston, as the Winchester, MA native earned All-LEC Second Team honors while also being selected as the LEC Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Wood-Suvak also played two seasons at the Division I level, competing for the University of Connecticut in 2018 before moving on to Sacred Heart University in 2019. At SHU, he appeared in 15 of 16 games, starting three times for the Pioneers.
As a prep, he played for Winchester High School, while leading the team to a Middlesex League Championship.
The Trinity College men's soccer team has announced the hiring of Austin Farwell as an assistant coach beginning in July on 2023. Farwell joins Trinity from Bridgton Academy in Maine where he was an assistant coach for the last two years. Farwell was in charge of goalkeepers and ran team operations at Bridgton.
Lopez is in his first season with Lesley University.
Leon Lopez spent two seasons as a graduate assistant with the Nichols College men’s soccer team in 2022.
Lopez played two years at Herkimer College, where he was a Second Team All-America pick as a freshman and First Team All-America as a sophomore. He helped Herkimer reach the NJCAA Semifinals in both seasons. He went on to play at SUNY Oneonta before transferring to nearby American International College.
Lopez – who was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago and played soccer at Malick Secondary School – holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications. He also played on the San Juan Jabloteh reserve team.
Tim Peng begins his fourth season as an assistant men’s soccer coach at Babson College in 2021.
Over his first three years with the program, the Beavers have captured a pair of NEWMAC regular season titles to go along with a conference tournament championship and an NCAA Tournament berth in 2019. Babson went 12-3-4 overall and 5-0-2 in league play in 2018 and followed it up by posting a 14-6-2 mark, which included wins over eventual Division III champion Tufts and NCAA quarterfinalist Connecticut College during the regular season.
Anthony Scaravillo finished his second season as an assistant coach of the Union College men's soccer team in 2023.
After helping guide the program to a 5-8-3 record in his first year on Head Coach Matt Brown's staff, Scaravillo assisted in leading the group to their most successful season in recent history in 2023. The men’s soccer team finished with an 8-6-5 record, their most wins in a season since 2019, which included a 5-2-2 mark in the Liberty League, their most wins in conference play in over a decade. The successful regular season saw the Garnet Chargers earn the #2 seed in the Liberty League Tournament, punching their ticket to the postseason for the first time since 2015 and earning a home game for the first time since 2010. The program’s four end of year conference honors were the most for the program since 2017.
Scaravillo spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Division I UAlbany under head coach Trevor Gorman, helping to plan and implement training sessions while assisting in scouting, recruiting, and team operations for the Great Danes.
Scaravillo played collegiately at Le Moyne College from 2012-15, captaining the Dolphins to an NCAA Tournament berth as a senior in 2015. He then began his collegiate coaching career with his alma mater, helping to guide the Dolphins to a pair of NCAA Tournaments in his three seasons as an assistant coach. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s in education from Le Moyne.
Sean Streb joins the Rochester men’s soccer coaching staff in the spring of 2022, bringing with him a solid resume of playing and coaching experience on the soccer pitch.
Streb spent the last two seasons on the sidelines as First Assistant Coach at SUNY Cortland, helping the Red Dragons to a SUNYAC title and NCAA Division III Sweet 16 appearance in the 2021 season. While at Cortland, Streb was a key recruiter for the Red Dragons and had additional duties such as being the teams academic performance manager and travel operations manager.
Additionally, Streb’s coaching experience extends to the club level where he has been Head Coach of the Syracuse Rush Soccer Club 2006 Boys, 2008 Boys and 2010 Girls teams over the last two years.
Streb also worked in New York City with E3Sports, serving in a variety of roles from 2017-2020. Also in that timespan, he was a coach with various teams throughout the New York City area, including stints as Varsity Girls Coach at Trevor Day School and Varsity Boys Coach at Riverdale Country School.
A graduate of SUNY Cortland, Streb played two years with the Red Dragons soccer team, being named team captain as a senior in 2015. He earned All-Conference honors in back-to-back seasons on defense for the Red Dragons and added All-Region accolades to his accomplishments in 2015.
Prior to playing at Cortland, Streb was a two-time captain and All-American at Tompkins Cortland Community College.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2017 from Cortland. Streb received his Master’s degree at Cortland in Exercise Science in May 2022.
Juliano "Nano" Pereira joined the men's soccer coaching staff prior to the fall 2022 season as an assistant coach. Previously, Nano served as the Head of Recruiting for Tiro Sports, a program that aids in the recruitment of international students-athletes by U.S. colleges.
Nano graduated from Vassar College 2014 with a degree in Psychology. As a central midfielder, he helped the Brewers to the first Liberty League title and NCAA tournament victory in program history. He was a team captain, three-time All-Liberty League selection, and recipient of the Matthew Vassar Outstanding Career award.
After college, Nano continued playing and coaching at a high level around the globe. He had professional playing stints in Brazil, Iceland, San Diego, Greece, Finland, and New York City.
Nano started his coaching career in his hometown of Albany, California, spending three seasons with the boys' varsity team at Albany High School, while assisting youth clubs in the region. Throughout his pursuit of a professional playing career, Nano also sought to get involved in the local football community and stay active in the game. He took on coaching roles in each of the cities he lived in–youth and pro women's teams in Iceland, youth boys and girls in San Diego, refugees in Greece, a semi-pro women's team in Finland, and an elite-level boys' youth academy in New York.
In 2020, Nano earned a dual master's degree in Sport & Exercise Psychology from the University of Thessaly in Greece and the University of Jyvãskulã (EMSEP program). Nano is half-Brazilian, speaks fluent Portuguese, and is a USSF licensed coach.
Flo Liu begins his third season as assistant on Coach Michael Marchiano's staff in 2022. Liu was named Assistant Coach of the Drexel University Men's Soccer program in March of 2020. Liu comes to the program after a stint as the assistant men's soccer coach at St. John's.
Liu helped guide the Red Storm to a 14-5-1 record and a trip to the NCAA tournament in 2019 with St.John’s. The Red Storm was as high as no.1 in RPI during the season. After receiving a first-round bye, the team won in the second round against Syracuse but lost in the third round to No. 1 Virginia.
Before his time with St. John's, Liu worked as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. from 2016 to 2018. During Liu's time with the Blue Hose, he helped turn a last-placed RPI team into conference champions in 2017, defeating top-seeded High Point on penalty kicks to clinch the first NCAA bid in program history.
A native of Richmond, British Columbia, Liu played at University of Connecticut where he helped UConn to two NCAA quarterfinal appearances in 2011 and 2012, he was part of a defense that set a school record with 16 shutouts in 2011. Liu played every minute in Big East play on route to conference championship in 2012.
Ian De Oliveira joined Northeastern in the 2023 season from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, where he served as the team's goalkeeper coach. Under Oliveira, the Herd allowed just 0.74 goals per game in the 2022 season, holding opponents scoreless seven times including their opening game of the NCAA tournament against Elon. While working with the goalkeepers, Oliveira also dealt with opponent scouting, performance analysis, and game review. Oliveira also was a goalkeeper coach for West Virginia United in the USL2 division. In his playing days, Oliveira was a member of two National Title-winning Charleston teams in 2017 and 2019, the first two national titles in school history. Oliveira earned his Business Administration degree from the University of Charleston in 2020, and his Masters in Science of Strategic Leadership in 2022 from the same institution.
Renato Rosas joined the Huskies in the 2023 season from Clark University in Worcester, where he served as an assistant coach for four seasons, and the New England Futbol Club, where he served as head coach. Rosas attended Regis College in Weston, Mass. While earning a BA in psychology and a masters in organizational communication, Rosas played midfield for the Pride, tallying a career 12 goals and nine assists in 75 appearances. He began his post-graduate career into soccer coaching when he joined the Regis staff as a Graduate Assistant, eventually moving on to Clark University in a full-time roll.
Tim Stanton was named assistant men's soccer coach in August 2023.
Stanton joins Colgate after seven years as an assistant coach at Colby College, a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) competing at the NCAA Division III level.
During his tenure with the Mules, Stanton collected a NESCAC championship and an NCAA tournament berth in 2018. Key wins during the 2018 season included victories against eventual NCAA champions, Tufts University, and Elite 8 participant, Amherst College. Stanton also recruited five All-NESCAC players during his time at Colby College, including 2021 NESCAC Rookie of the Year, Ethan Franco.
In 2017, Stanton spent time at the helm of the Seacoast United U18 Blue squad in Topsham, Maine, and coached with the Yarmouth High School boy’s soccer team in 2015.
Prior to his coaching career, Stanton was a member of the Mules men’s soccer team. He scored five career goals across his four seasons and was elected a co-captain during the 2015 season.
Stanton graduated from Colby College in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in government.
Pinto joined Northeastern University in 2024.
Prior to Northeastern, Pinto coached at Northwestern University between 2021-2024. He also served as an assistant coach at Loyola University Chicago. He had been with the Ramblers since February of 2019 and helped the program to 18 wins in two seasons, including the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference title and an NCAA tournament appearance.
Pinto joined Loyola after a one-year stint at University of North Carolina-Wilmington, where the team qualified for the 2018 NCAA tournament with a 12-5-3 record. Under his guidance, the Seahawks finished 18th nationally in goals-against-average and 19th nationally in team save percentage. Pinto also coached goalkeeper Ryan Cretens to a Second Team All-CAA honor.
A 2016 graduate of University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Pinto's first job out of college was spending the 2017 season at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida.
Andrew Banadda was named assistant coach for the Bowdoin men's soccer team in the spring of 2021.
A 2010 graduate of Middlebury College, Banadda joins Scott Wiercinski’s coaching staff following ten years of coaching in the middle Atlantic. A native of Gaithersburg, Md., Banadda enjoyed a stellar career at Middlebury, where he helped the Panthers win the 2007 national championship by earning All-Tournament honors.
Jason Stanton joined UMass Lowell in 2022. He coached at Boston College in the Fall of 2021 as the Volunteer Goalkeeper Coach.
Jason is currently employed by Juventus Academy Boston (JAB) and Intercontinental Football Academy (IFA) of New England, serving as the North Region Goalkeeping Director and MLS Next Goalkeeper Coach respectively, and has been with both organizations since February 2021. Prior to his time at JAB and IFA, Jason worked for Global Premier Soccer (GPS) MA as the Metro Boston Regional Director from March 2019 to June 2020.
Stanton holds two degrees from the University of Pretoria that he obtained from 2012-15; BA Human Movement Sciences & BA (Hons) in Sport and Leisure Studies Option: Sport and Recreation Management. During his time at UP he was also part of the men's soccer team that won several titles during his four years at the school.
Ken Bovell is in his fourth season as the head coach of MIT men’s soccer program. In his first year at MIT, the program finished with a record of 18-3-1 (7-0-0 NEWMAC), broke 11 team records, and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division III men’s soccer tournament for the first time since 2003.
Bovell brings over 25 years of proven success as a coach at many levels to the Engineers. He was born and grew up playing soccer in Trinidad. Upon coming to the United States, he played soccer at Boston College and was a semi-professional player in the L.A.S.A. League with the Lowell Blues from 1982-1985.
Josh Taylor lead the SNHU program to a 13-4-2 overall finish in the 2018 season and advanced into the conference playoffs. Taylor is in his 11th season with SNHU and 4th as head coach. He holds a NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Advance Youth Diploma, and a USSF ‘D’ License.
A 2008 graduate from New England College with a degree in Sport and Recreation Management and a Coaching Minor. Taylor was four-year member for the Pilgrims men's soccer team and team captain.
Tommaso D'Agostino has assisted the Boston College men's soccer coaching staff since the 2022 season.
D’Agostino previously served four years as an assistant coach at UMass Lowell from 2018-22, helping lead the River Hawks to back-to-back America East Tournament semifinal appearances in 2018 and 2019. In his tenure at UMass Lowell, the team achieved a national ranking as high as 12th in Division I.
D’Agostino has coached various youth soccer teams in Massachusetts, Connecticut and North Carolina as well as being Director of Coaching at The Pro Project. D’Agostino holds a UEFA “B” License through the Scottish Football Federation and completed a coaching residency at famed youth academy Dinamo Zagreb of Croatia.
Rich Weinrebe is currently in his first season as the head coach at his alma mater in 2024.
Weinrebe, who returns to Durham after two seasons as head coach at Northeastern University, was named the 12th men's soccer head coach in program history on Jan. 4, 2024. A native of East Providence, R.I., he spent eight seasons (2014-21) on the Wildcat men's soccer staff, which included a five-year tenure as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator.
Weinrebe played a critical role in recruiting and developing some of the top Wildcats of all-time, including nine All-America selections and four MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalists. During his time on the coaching staff, the Wildcats made five straight NCAA Tournament appearances (2017-21) and won the program's first three America East Conference tournament championships (2018-20). UNH also advanced to the Round of 16 in 2017 and 2021.
Weinrebe was a member of a staff that was named the Northeast Region Staff of the Year (2019 & 2021), Eastern Region Staff of the Year (2017), and America East Staff of the Year (2017, 2019, 2020 & 2021).
Weinrebe also made an impact as co-chair of the UNH Department of Athletics' Committee on Mutual Respect (COMR), a group that provided resources to student-athletes, coaches, and staff for the purpose of acknowledging and embracing collective differences and creating an inclusive culture.
Weinrebe spent the past two seasons as the head coach at Northeastern, which included a CAA tournament berth in 2022. Under his tutelage, four Huskies earned All-CAA recognition.
In Weinrebe's final season (2021) as associate head coach, UNH concluded an historic campaign with a record of 17-2-2 (7-0-1 America East) and established program benchmarks for wins and winning percentage (.857). That Wildcat squad advanced to the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 for only the second time in program history before falling, 1-0, at No. 1 seed Oregon State. UNH, which earned the No. 16 seed, received a first-round bye for the second consecutive season before defeating North Carolina, 4-1, in the second round at Wildcat Stadium.
Augusto Lima was recently named as the new Head Coach of Clarkson University.
Last season, Lima served as an assistant coach for Northeastern, Augusto Lima joins the Men's Soccer coaching staff for the 2022 fall season.
A newcomer to Huntington Ave, assistant coach Augusto Lima joined the staff in May from the University of Rochester. The Yellow Jackets went 9-4-4 in Lima's time with the University, holding opponents goalless through the first five games of the season. He joined Rochester after spending two seasons at Bucknell. Serving as assistant coach with the Bison, Lima helped coach Bucknell to the Patriot League semifinals in 2019.
Andrew Schaefer begins his first season on staff with the Wheaton College men’s soccer program, as he was named a full-time assistant coach in the summer of 2019. The Ashland, Virginia native comes to Norton after serving as assistant coach for two seasons at his Alma Mater, Randolph-Macon College. Prior to Randolph-Macon, Schaefer spent the 2016 season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Cabrini University while developing his coaching style as a head coach for the Richmond Strikers soccer club.
Sam Matteson enters his first season on staff with the MIT men's soccer program in 2023. Prior to joining the Engineers Coach Matteson spent the last three years coaching at Holy Cross helping the program to two appearances in the Patriot League Playoffs. Before that he spent three seasons at Bryant University where he helped guide the Bulldogs to appearances in both the NEC semifinal in 2019 and the conference final in 2018.
Matteson was previously an assistant coach at Bridgewater State during the 2016 and 2017 seasons, and helped the Bears to the MASCAC semifinals in 2016. He was also the associate head coach at Wheelock in 2015 and spent three years on the staff at the University New Haven from 2012-2014.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Matteson is the ECNL Director for the Boston Bolts, coaching at both the ECNL and Academy levels.
Graduating from Mitchell College with a bachelor’s degree in Sport and Fitness Management, Matteson was a four-year members of the Mariners’ men’s soccer team, helping the program win the New England Collegiate Conference titles in 2006 and 2008. He went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Business and Sporting Industries from the University of New Haven, he currently holds a USSF B License.
Bryan Harkin will enter his third season as an assistant coach with the Harvard men’s soccer program in 2023-24.
Harvard continued its upward ascent during the 2022 season, posting a 9-4-4 record and challenging for a berth in the NCAA tournament. Harvard closed the season unbeaten in its last eight games (5-0-3) and undefeated in its last six Ivy League contests (3-0-3). The Crimson claimed third place in the Ivy League standings with 12 points, marking its highest finish in the conference table since 2015. Harvard concluded the season with a 7-1-1 record at home.
As a team in 2022, the Crimson ranked second in the NCAA in assists per game (3.00), eighth in points per game (7.35), fifth in shots on goal per game (7.71), sixth in shots per game (16.35), 10th in total assists (51), and 17th in goals per game (2.18).
In his first season with the team in 2021, Harkin helped lead the Crimson to eight more wins than the previous competitive season as Harvard finished above .500 (8-5-3, 3-2-2 Ivy) for the first time since 2016, placing fourth in the conference standings. Harvard closed the year on a three-game Ivy League winning streak and went 4-1-1 in its last six games. He helped guide Ivy League Rookie of the Year Alessandro Arlotti as one of four All-Ivy selections.
Prior to Harvard, Harkin spent four seasons (2017-20) as the head coach of the Emerson men’s program with a previous stint as an assistant coach at Tufts. While with the Jumbos, he had a hand in the program’s first ever DIII national title in 2014, a Sweet Sixteen bid in 2015, and the program’s second national championship in 2016.
